Massage Therapy Specialties

Massage is a form of holistic or therapeutic healing.  It is one of the best relaxation or rehabilitative types of bodywork, and there are a number of techniques that can be utilized. It all depends on what you are looking for. I use natural herbal remedies in my practice, incorporating essential oils and herbs into my massage oils and creams. Aromatherapy is used for all relaxation massages with aroma diffusers/warmers. Heat is another natural technique I use for relaxation and muscle tension release in the form of hot stones, heating pads, hot towels, a heated table, and other tools.

I practice individual massages focusing on your goals, from relaxation and general well-being to mobility and pain management.  If you are unsure of what you want I can recommend a technique or custom massage to suit your needs.

I am trained and certified in: medical, therapeutic, relaxation, deep tissue, shiatsu, prenatal, sports, hot stone, and lymphatic drainage massages, detox herbal massage as well as cupping therapy, gua-sha treatment, headache relief, PNF stretch therapy

*Medical  massage with MPS Therapy - needleless acupuncture ( description see below )and neuromuscular and myofascial techniques, heat, herbs blends or ointments, tools, cupping ( depending on the condition) to effectively treat a variety of muscle-related conditions such as: whiplash, cervical strain, lumbago, pelvic tilt, post-op back surgery conditions, sciatica, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff strain, tennis/golf elbow, plantar fasciitis, and range of motion limitations, strains

*MPS Therapy is the application of the Dolphin Neurostim through therapeutically integrative protocols. MPS applies brief, concentrated DC microcurrent impulses to specific treatment points to relax muscles, calm the nervous system, and release endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers. When MPS is applied to the pathologies influencing all three systems — nervous, muscular, and endocrine —  it is effective in treating many chronic and acute soft-tissue pain conditions.

*Therapeutic massage -  Therapeutic Massage is a form of bodywork that targets a specific problem (muscle issues as tension, muscle knots, strains). It is full full-body outcome-based massage, primarily applied in the treatment of targeted areas specific to the problem the patient presents with.  Treatment can include the use of hot stones for warming up the muscle tissue, pain ointments, or additional techniques such as cupping or Gua-sha, which are included in this treatment. Aromatherapy is included in this massage as well, your choice of aromatherapy oils ( stress less, calm, happiness, relax, muscle ease )

*Scar Release Therapy - Scar Release Therapy (SRT) is a technique that involves applying MPS Therapy to each side of visible scars with microcurrent therapy to “repolarize” the local tissue and release fascia and muscles influenced by the scar. This technique should not be underestimated in its potency. Releasing scars that influence the pain site can sometimes be the single most important factor in the treatment of chronic pain. Combined with manual techniques, Scar Release Therapy takes 3- 5 sessions ( on average ) to release the scar tissue

*Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle stimulation of the lymph which carries waste products away back toward the circulatory system. It is recommended for overall health support as well as post-surgical or traumatic edema, fibromyalgia, chronic pain reduction, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, and detoxification.  Treatment cannot be performed if there is a compromised immune system or if you have drain tubes or any kind of open/healing wounds.

*Detox herbal massage is a combination of

1. Exfoliation (dry brushing) is used in lymphatic massage strokes.  Exfoliation gently removes dead skin cells, promotes blood circulation, and helps awaken the lymphatic system which flushes the body of toxins.

2. Herbal poultice compression is the use of a hot/steamed herbal poultice filled with dried and powdered herbs which relaxes and soothes muscles.  The heat combined with the herbs is absorbed by the body and helps reduce aches and pains.  It also increases lymphatic drainage and improves the condition of the skin. This ancient technique originated in Thailand.

3. Detox herbal massages uses my special blend of essential oils (lemongrass, lemon, rosemary, peppermint, chamomile, and lavender). This special detox blend continues to enhance healthy circulation, metabolism, and lymphatic drainage.

lemongrass - stimulates kidneys and is thought to help lower cholesterol.

lemon - antibacterial oil that aids the immune and digestive systems.

rosemary - is a tonic for the liver and gallbladder, and stimulates blood circulation.

peppermint - helps digestion and is an antispasmodic.

chamomile - has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, and is great for the digestive system.

lavender - the number one essential oil, has multiple properties.  It is a perfect detox oil due to the fact that it destroys certain forms of bacteria.  It is also calming and balancing which is important in any detoxification.

*Himalayan Hot Stone Massage- Himalayan Salt contains 84 naturally occurring minerals and elements which makes it perfect for assisting healing and providing better health. The body absorbs the minerals as the stones glide over the body helping to balance skin conditions and supporting a healthy immune system. Massage naturally helps the body detox by increasing blood and lymph flow, but using the heated Salt Stones increases this detoxification process.

Exfoliates and nourishes the skin gently, leaving you soft and smooth.

Reduces inflammation and relieves pain such as muscle weakness, headaches, joint pain, and fatigue.

Generates negative ions, which are shown to help create a sense of peace and deep relaxation.

A Deep sense of relaxation

* Cupping therapy massage is an ancient form of alternative medicine. There are stationary or sliding techniques, both of which help with pain, inflammation, chronic muscle tightness, circulation, relaxation, and/or the release of scar tissue and fascia adhesions.

* Gua Sha (gwah shaw) treatment - is another ancient Chinese technique of muscle scraping.  It is used on tight muscles which releases tension and toxins from the body. Gua-Sha consists of gentle scraping along the body and face with a ceramic spoon or a stainless steel Gua-Sha tool. The scraping brings out reddish marks that are the “sha”, or toxins, that are trapped beneath the skin. The darker the color of the marks, the more toxins that are stuck there which need to be released.
